Welcome Brynn Stein & Her New Release “Through the Years”…comment to win!

Thanks for allowing me to stop by your blog, Lane. I’ve been having a lot of fun with my blog tour, but alas, it’s drawing to a close. Just this and one more stop. So, I thought I’d take this time to talk about upcoming books.

I have three more books under contract in various stages of preparation.

Ray of Sunlight is the next one out. It’s expected to be released in March or April. It’s my first Harmony Ink title, so I’m excited about that. It, like Through the Years, has a character who has cancer and is also told in first person from the other character’s POV but those are about the only similarities there are between the two books. Ray of Sunlight deals with two young men, teenagers really. They are seventeen when we meet them, though Russ turns eighteen during the story. Russ is a disillusioned and angry teen. He’s been in and out of trouble for years, even in Juvenile Detention a couple of times. The story opens with him reacting to the outcome of yet another court case. He has five hundred hours of community service to take place at the local Children’s hospital. That’s where we meet CJ. He’s performing a clown show for the children on the burn ward when Russ meets him, and Russ immediately brands him a loser. He has to rethink his opinion a little when the nurses call CJ away from the show because it’s time to get ready for his chemo treatment. That’s not the only time Russ has a change of heart in the book. We see him grow as a person just from knowing CJ and getting involved in what CJ is passionate about. And somehow, along the way, Russ becomes passionate again about long-abandoned interests as well.

For Mac comes out in May or June. It’s an unusual story in that the title character is not one of the two main characters and actually doesn’t appear that often…or rather, doesn’t interact with the other characters much. Mac and Branson are brothers, although Mac is more of a father figure to Branson. He’s eight years older than Bran and has been his legal guardian since their parents died when Mac was 21. Unfortunately, Mac is seriously homophobic. Early in the story, the brothers are involved in a car accident which leaves Mac in a coma. He is eventually moved to a long term care facility which is where Branson meets Liam. He’s instantly attracted but, because of the way he’s been brought up, is very resistant toward having those kinds of feelings toward another man. Much of the story deals with Branson’s internalized homophobia in the face of his attraction and friendship with Liam.

I’ve also signed a contract for my first book that has a sequel. The sequel is not yet completed, though is very close, so I haven’t gotten a contract for the second one yet. But, there actually is a second one for this one. I’ve actually had people comment that they’d like to see a sequel to Haunted or Living Again, and I’m actually thinking about those, but this one already had a second one partially finished before I submitted the first one. The one due out in June or July is called What No One Else Can Hear and is about a young empath and one man’s efforts to help him have a better life. Jimmy has somehow been calling to Jesse mentally for years, even though, in ‘real life’ Jimmy is in a residential facility for children with severe Autism. His empathy is overwhelming and he has pulled himself into his own world as protection again all the ‘voices’. Jesse spends all of his time trying to find, then trying to help Jimmy. Outside forces conspire against them and all manners of things happen to try to keep them apart. In this first story, Jimmy is just trying to survive his empathic abilities. In the second book, if it’s accepted, he actually starts using them.

I’ve also got several stories started, besides the sequel. Sometimes that happens…that I’m actually working on more than one story at a time.

What about you writers? Do you tend to stick to writing one story at a time or do you juggle several at once?

Comment below to be entered in the raffle.

Here’s how it works:

I’ve listed the tour stops below and have given either the link to the blog in general or to my post specifically. Feel free to stop by as many as you want. For each stop that you comment on, you will receive one entry to the giveaway. I’ll check all the stops numerous times throughout the tour and will draw five winners on Thanksgiving Day, so even if you come in late to the tour, you can go back through the list and comment on past stops.

I’m giving away five prizes. Prize 1) a signed paperback copy of Through the Years; Prizes 2 and 3) electronic copies of Through the Years, Prize 4) your choice of either a signed paperback copy or an audiobook of Living Again (the audiobook won’t be available until December), and Prize 5) an electronic copy of Haunted.

Blurb for Through the Years

Edward and Gene were instantly drawn to each other when they met at college in Maryland. Fast friends, they developed a “closer than brothers” relationship. But then Edward began to feel more for Gene. In 1967, those kind of feelings would not be tolerated. Not even by Edward himself.

Gene always thought he was asexual. He had never been attracted to anyone… until he met Edward. He dreamed of Edward as more than a friend throughout college, but he knew Edward would not welcome that kind of attention. So Gene wasn’t surprised when Edward reacted badly to a drunken kiss just before Edward’s graduation. He was surprised when Edward moved to Florida and had little to do with him for years afterward.

When fate finally brings them back together, Edward is married and has a little girl. Gene gladly accepts the role of “Uncle Gene,” happy to have Edward in his life in any capacity. Together, they face all the trials and tribulations life throws at them, including the death of Edward’s wife, and as each grows and matures, their life views change. The relationship they’ve secretly wanted all along is closer than ever, and if Edward can break free from his homophobic upbringing and admit his feelings for Gene, there might still be a chance for them to share their lives in the way they both desire.

A Bittersweet Dreams title: It’s an unfortunate truth: love doesn’t always conquer all. Regardless of its strength, sometimes fate intervenes, tragedy strikes, or forces conspire against it. These stories of romance do not offer a traditional happy ending, but the strong and enduring love will still touch your heart and maybe move you to tears.

Brynn Stein has always loved to write. Fan fiction, original fiction, whatever. While Brynn wrote in numerous genres – everything from mystery, to contemporary, to supernatural – she had always tended toward strong male characters. And then she discovered ‘slash’, male/male romance, and all those strong male characters were finally allowed to express their love for one another. It seems that there are always at least two characters clamoring to tell Brynn their story.

Brynn lives in Virginia with one of her two two-legged children, and two four-legged ones. Her supportive family encourages her writing and provides a sounding board for fledgling stories. When she isn’t writing, Brynn teaches children with special needs. In free time, when such a thing exists, she reads anything she can get her hands on, and haunts bookstores. She draws and paints, and enjoys the outdoors—especially if she can get to the beach—and is always thinking about her next story.
