Better Than SafeBetterThanSafe_FBprofile_smallPaul Fallon is a fashion advertising guru. He’s a genius at dealing with difficult editors, art directors, and designers alike. He thrives on the chaotic atmosphere and constant challenges. But in his personal life, he’s hoping for peace and stability. Settling down with a nice doctor or lawyer sounds perfect. Anyone but an artist. He’s been there, done that, and he doesn’t want to relive the heartache.

Seth Landau is a model, occasional guitarist, and aspiring painter. He’s quirky, flighty, and wise beyond his years. Life has taught him some tough lessons, then given him opportunities he never dreamed of. He’s learned to appreciate the fragility of life and to express it in his work. Seth’s flare for the absurd combined with a supple mind and a beautiful body are too alluring for Paul to ignore. Against his best intentions, Paul is drawn to the younger man whose particular brand of crazy challenges Paul to accept that things aren’t always as they seem. Sometimes taking a chance is better than being safe.

Better Than Friends

BetterThanFriends_FBThumbWhen Curt Townsend, a successful young DC lawyer, attends his first gay wedding, he doesn’t expect anything more than a great evening out spent celebrating two lucky guys willing to commit to one another. He certainly doesn’t anticipate meeting someone like Jack Farinelli. Fourteen years Curt’s senior, Jack owns two businesses: a gay bar and a motorcycle shop. He’s gorgeous and self-assured, but Curt is positive they have nothing in common.

Jack is comfortable in his own skin. He’s attracted to Curt’s quick wit and easy manner but most of all, to their unexpected mutual love of baseball. As they forge a friendship based on their shared enthusiasm for the sport, they begin a journey which reveals how their differences might be the catalyst behind a growing attraction. Both men have experienced their share of pain, but they realize they need to set aside the past and learn to trust in a future if they are to have one together.

Better Than Chance

BetterThanChance_FBThumbJay Reynolds has a crush on his project leader at work, but an office romance with Peter Morgan isn’t likely to happen since Peter is straight. Worse, Jay soon fears Peter is homophobic, and his initial infatuation turns to loathing. But one fateful night, Jay is forced to acknowledge things aren’t quite as they seem with Peter. Suddenly, his crush is back and unbelievably, Peter is interested too.

They begin a friends with benefits arrangement, which becomes difficult for Jay when he starts falling for his sexy boss. Peter’s past issues keep him from committing, and Jay has to decide if he can be satisfied with friendship if Peter isn’t ready to take a chance on anything more.

Better Than Good

BetterThanGood-Hayes_FBThumbMatt Sullivan understands labels: law student, athlete, heterosexual. He has goals: graduate and begin his career in law. One fateful night, Matt tags along with his gay roommate to a dance club and everything changes. Matt finds himself attracted to the most beautiful man he’s ever seen. All labels go flying out the window.

Aaron Mendez doesn’t believe in labels, and he’s leery of straight curious men. He makes it clear that he’ll hide his fabulous light for no one. While Aaron can’t deny the attraction between him and Matt, he is reluctant to start anything with someone who is still dealing with what this new label means—especially when that someone has a girlfriend.

  1. I really enjoyed this book! With the unresolved issues with families and Aaron still not having met Matt’s friends, does this mean a sequal is in the works? I hope so!

    1. Thank you! Funny you should ask.. I actually wrote two more books featuring Matt & Aaron (could be overkill)because I felt as though Matt had come out to himself but the obvious next step was coming out publicly to friends and family. Write DSP and let them know you’d like to see more! I have another two in the works that feature other characters from “BTG”. Thank you for you comments!

  2. Hi Lane; Didn’t I read a book about Ben and Mark and Katie? Am I crazy, since I cannot find it on my Kindle…

    1. Hi! I actually did write a short story with Ben and Mark, but it hasn’t been published yet. I almost want to make it longer at work on it at novel length. Katie is in my second book..Jay and Peter’s story. Thanks for asking!

  3. Just finished BTG – really fun read, great characters. I want to read more. Happy you’re working on books about Jay and Peter. Think they’re a great couple too. Congrats on a great book.

    1. Hi Lidia- The second book is scheduled to be released in early 2014 (Jan or Feb). I’m excited to say the third one has been submitted too!
Hope you liked the first 🙂

      1. Hi Lane, I did like the book – a lot. Can you write more about Aaron and Matt please? The story is so unfinished. Matt still needs to come out at work and to his family. It can’t be entirely easy and stressful. So, please write book 2 about Matt and Aaron.

      2. Hi Lidia-

I actually have written more about Matt & Aaron. They’ll be featured in books 2 & 3, but I have more in depth material I’m thinking of self-publishing. I’ll update my website when that happens (fingers crossed). Thank you for your support!

        Best wishes, Lane Hayes

  4. Hi, just wondering if the second book will be more of Aaron and Matt. I hope so.Their story isn’t complete yet! Wonderful book.

    1. Hi! I just wrote a short story for Dreamspinner Press for Valentine’s Day which is a little more about Aaron and Matt. I’m hoping they pick it up. The second book in the “Better Than…” series is Peter and Jay’s story. That one should be out in early 2014. I’m so happy you enjoyed Aaron and Matt’s story. I love those guys!

  5. Hey. just read all the other comments and wanted to add mine to the mix. LOVED the book, but definitely think it wasn’t finished. Can’t wait to read more about Matt and Aaron and what happens when Matt comes out to his family and what happens when he meets Aaron’s family cause I think that will be a good story too. I will definitely be checking to find more of your books! I hope Dreamspinner doesn’t take too long! Great Book!

    1. Thank you Zora! Next book in the series will be out next month. I’m not sure of the exact date yet. I love the feedback I’m getting about Matt and Aaron’s story continuing. The story has been written but needs to be reworked for the publisher before I submit it. I’m so glad you enjoyed their story. Hopefully you’ll like Peter and Jay’s too 🙂

  6. Just read Better Than Good and I absolutely loved it. It’s become one of my favourite books. I love both characters especially Aaron. At the end of the book you can really imagine things working out for them, but I’d love to read more of them. Any plans for a follow on story? Just downloaded Better Than Chance, looking forward to reading Jay and Peters’ story.

    1. Thank you for your wonderful feedback! I’m so glad you love Aaron and Matt as much as I do. I have written a few Aaron & Matt follow-ups and I’m actually considering offering them as samples on my website. It’s just a thought.:-) Please let me know how you like Jay and Peter too. Lane xo

  7. Just finished Better Than Chance. Loved it as much as the first book. Peter’s very sexy and mysterious and Jay is adorable. I was willing him to get his HEA and I cried when he did. I’m a sucker for a love story but it takes a special book to make me cry. Would love to read some stories about Aaron and Matt – that would be a treat – I loved their book so much. Both books are on my favourites shelf and I will definitely be reading them again – probably many times! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

  8. Hi, where could I buy Better than good? I am looking and nothing. I am from Poland and I usually order in Book depository, but they dont have.

    1. Hello! I’m so sorry you’ve had a hard time finding this one. It’s available at Amazon now and should be released wide again later this summer. Thank you for your inquiry. Hope you enjoy Matt and Aaron’s story. xo
